‘This Is Wild,’ ‘Who Gives These People a Platform?’ – Outrage Erupts As Analyst Claims Jackie Young Deserved All-WNBA First-Team Over Caitlin Clark

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark speaks with media members Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Terrance Biggs Mon, October 26, 2026 at 8:31 PM UTC · 4 min read About Our Ads Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Caitlin Clark received All-WNBA first-team honors for her exemplary performances during the 2026 season. However, not everyone agreed with the pick and one analyst claimed that Las Vegas Aces guard Jackie Young was more deserving of a spot in the team.

Clark continues to be one of the most discussed players in the league. Despite being one of the league's top performers, the Fever star often divides opinion, which also proved to be the case with her All-WNBA first-team selection.

Trysta Krick, host of " Let Her Shoot " podcast, stated that Young deserved to make the first-team All-WNBA over Clark. That opinion galvanized several WNBA fans on social media.

"Caitlin Clark averaged 22.3 PPG &8.3 APG coming off injury yet a slow start disqualifies her from First Team?! Jackie avg 9.3 PPG through 6 games. If Caitlin averaged Jackie's 18.9 PPG and 6.8 APG for the season, people would call her overrated. CC also averaged more steals & blocks than her," one user commented .

For context, Krick centered her belief on the notion that the Fever guard started slow amid back trouble. However, Clark outpaced Young in scoring and assists, while Young averaged slightly more rebounds. Moreover, Young, in the estimation of many, did not enjoy a blistering start to the season either.

Young posted back-to-back scoreless games in May, going 0-14 from the field during the stretch.

"WNBA continues to have the stupidest basketball analysts of all time via podcasts. These might be one of the worsts. Side note: that's not my heavy breathing halfway through, that's how they published the video, " the user added .

Clark was the engine of the Fever. Meanwhile, Young had the luxury of playing with the WNBA's Most Valuable Player, A'ja Wilson. In essence, Wilson makes Young's job far easier. Having an elite post scorer who draws attention from multiple defenders creates open shots.

"Who gives these people a platform? So she still averaged 20 and 8 (never been done btw) after starting slow? Imagine if she started hot right away. May be talking 27 and 10," a user surmised .

Clark endured some inefficient shooting stretches, particularly early and around her return from injury, but her efficiency improved over the course of the season. She still finished the season averaging 22.3 points and 8.3 assists.

"That slow start was why CC wasn't a stronger candidate for MVP. The time it took to trust her body again, and the games she was on dumb minutes restrictions, did impact her overall season performance. But JY, OM, PB, AR, and even KM also had uneven seasons," another user pondered .

In the midst of this, Krick defended her take, trying to bring in the numbers narrative, refusing to cede any ground to critics who believe the exact opposite. The analyst even defended herself against claims that she was presenting a subjective agenda.

"Pandering for whose acceptance? The Wings were a 7 seed… I like Paige and she had a great year ultimately these were ticky tack back arguments. The nerd stats would say that Jackie was more impactful to her team's success than other players. Relax," Krick wrote on X.

Clark, via Krick, in a way, actually accomplished something she's never done before. Voices from the far ends of WNBA discussion joined forces against a take they believe runs counter to common sense, as they arrived at one basic thought.

"This is wild!! Caitlin's "slow" start but nothing on Jackie's b2b 0pt games … like this is why the W discourse is just so bad…," a user claimed .

The Fever and Aces rank among two of the league's best teams. However, both are sitting home watching the Golden State Valkyries and Atlanta Dream in the WNBA Finals. What each player and their respective franchises does to improve in the offseason could dictate how next season goes.
