Walmart's Gingerbread Cat House Gives Your Little Menace a Festive Place to Scratch

As I’m writing this, my Maine Coon, Meatball, has just casually walked over to my dining room chair and started sharpening his giant murder mittens on it. Right in front of me. While making eye contact. Which means it’s probably time to buy him another cat scratcher before my dining room looks like it was attacked by a pack of wild animals. Merry Christmas to me, I guess.
Fortunately, Walmart has the FurHaven Tiger Tough Gingerbread Scratcher House, which gives naughty little Christmas cookies somewhere to scratch that isn’t your furniture. It’s a festive cardboard cat house with a built-in scratcher, hanging toy, and catnip, so your cat can destroy something that’s actually meant to be destroyed. And when they’re finished committing their little crimes, they can curl up inside and pretend they’ve been good all year.

The gingerbread cat house measures approximately 15 inches long, 15 inches wide, and 14.5 inches tall, making it a cute little hideaway that won’t take over your entire living room. It’s made from sturdy, double-walled corrugated cardboard, with scratching surfaces that let cats stretch, dig in their claws, and get some of that destructive energy out.

There’s also a dangling toy for batting around and included catnip to encourage your cat to investigate their new Christmas real estate.
One particularly fun feature is that you can decorate the cardboard exterior yourself with paint, drawings, or stickers. I’m thinking this is an excellent way to keep the kids busy during the holiday festivities. You could even turn it into a little gingerbread mansion for your spoiled feline, although I’m fairly certain Meatball would appreciate the effort for approximately three seconds before trying to eat the decorations.
Who Needs This Adorable Gingerbread Cat House?

Cats on the naughty list: Especially the ones who think your expensive furniture is their personal nail salon.
Little Christmas cookies: Kitties who deserve their very own gingerbread house, even if they’ve been absolute menaces all year.
Cats who love cardboard boxes: Because apparently cardboard is more luxurious than the expensive beds we keep buying them.
Pet parents who love decorating: You can customize the outside to match your Christmas decorations or your cat’s questionable personality.
Cats who need their own space: A cozy little hideaway where they can nap, play, and plot their next household crime.
I also love that the house is made from recycled materials and can be recycled again when your cat has finally scratched it into oblivion.
Will this adorable gingerbread house convince Meatball to leave my dining room chairs alone? I have absolutely no idea. But at least it’ll look cute sitting next to the Christmas tree while he continues making terrible decisions.
