Gigi Hadid Gets the Szilveszter Makó Treatment on WSJ Magazine’s November Cover

Upon Sarah Ball’s appointment as EIC of WSJ Magazine in 2023 (succeeding the long-serving Kristina O’Neill), the magazine hasn’t quite commanded the attention it once did. After all, it’s been a whole six months since the publication last piqued our interest (with Victoria Beckham). Not even covers starring Emily Blunt and Olivia Dean have managed to truly impress. Next up on the cover of WSJ Magazine is Gigi Hadid, who features on the special digital November 2026 edition. The American model and firm industry fave receives the Szilveszter Makó treatment for the occasion. Via the Hungarian photographer’s lens, Gigi serves vintage glamour, styled by Gabriella Karefa-Johnson in a creation from Duran Lantink’s Jean Paul Gaultier.

“Oh so he’s not even trying to change things up a bit,” commented prada melodies, taking a swipe at Makó’s aesthetic.
Tigerrouge voiced: “Because this type of shoot is so specific and recognisable, each magazine that runs with it can only get away with using it once, before the novelty/appeal evaporates. He’s capable of more!”
“Is he?” forum member Xone replied. “Hope he can find a way to improve, because the novelty is starting to wear off.”
“Not even Makó made Gigi Hadid look good. She will never be a model in my eyes. Mediocre celeb but not a model,” BalkaniStaCouture critiqued.
“Makó did great as always, but why does her face look like a little girl playing with makeup,” noted an unimpressed Abby Zacky.
